The Allpoint Partnership Means More Money in Your Pocket

You’re at your child’s bake sale to benefit her travel soccer team, but they only accept cash. You’re getting out of your taxi and need cash to tip your driver. You’re at a local flea market, but none of the vendors have a credit card reader.

These are just a few of the reasons you might need cash and you’re likely to stop at an ATM. And, you’re nowhere near your regular GECU branch or ATM. As you approach the ATM, you brace yourself for the surcharge and out-of-network fees you’ll receive just to get your hands on your own money. But don’t worry, you have another option.

We’ve recently partnered with Allpoint!

We recognize the inconvenience, difficulty, and expenses associated with ATM transactions. So we’ve taken matters into our own hands. We’ve added the Allpoint Network to provide you access to 55,000+ more surcharge-free ATMs around the country. This is in addition to the Alliance One and 5/3 surcharge-free ATM Networks, bringing your total access to over 60,000 ATMs worldwide.

What exactly is a surcharge?

A surcharge is a “service fee” added onto the dollar amount withdrawn from a foreign ATM. This fee is assessed by the owner of the ATM, not General Electric Credit union (GECU), and can range anywhere from $1 -$5.*

How can I avoid surcharge fees?

We’ve partnered with several ATM networks you can take advantage of to access funds surcharge-free!

  • Alliance-One is a nationwide surcharge-free ATM network that has over 5,000+ ATMs across the United Sates, District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico and are marked by their blue and yellow Alliance One logo.
  • 5/3 has over 2,300 ATMs located in 10 states throughout the Midwest and Southern United States and are marked by their blue and green 5/3 logo.
  • Allpoint is the world’s largest surcharge-free ATM network with over 55,000+ surcharge-free ATMs around the globe. Allpoint ATMs can be found inside popular retailers, including, but not limited to: Target, CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Speedway, and Costco and are marked by their bright green and yellow Allpoint logo.

Where can I find these ATMs?

Finding one of these In-Network ATMs is easy and is probably located within a few blocks! To pinpoint an exact ATM location, you can use our geolocation services with our GECU app on your mobile phone, tablet, or smartwatch; just select Locations on the login screen. You can also visit: gecreditunion.org/atm and use the online ATM/Branch locator tool to better assist you.

*GECU ATM fee may apply at surcharge-free ATMs. For details, review our Fee Schedule. When using a foreign ATM within any surcharge-free ATM network, occasionally machines will display a standard surcharge message on the screen during your transaction. Despite seeing this message, you will not actually pay this surcharge when the transaction is processed through the network. This list is updated continually and is up to the institution who owns the ATM to notify the networks of any changes.
